THE TALE The main source of inspiration for this design were the great Mexican Escaramuzas – women of strong and independent character often featured in 1940's Mexican films. The Zagalejo sweater is hand made from start to finish. Between knitting and embroidering, approximately 60 hours are invested in each garment. Its construction is made of 4 different knitting stitches and a cable detail for the neck. The simplicity of the stitch-work allows the embroidery to stand out. The technique used for the flowers is the satin stitch. Each petal is handmade separately on tulle. Once all the petals are done, they are cut and joined together to form flowers. The little leaves were made separately using an embroidery hook. |
