The inspiration for this artwork was found in Roberto, the artist great-grandmother's parrot and a poem written to honor the memory of that great grandmother whose home in the city of San Cristobal, Tachira, Venezuela has begun to be reconstructed in the imaginations of her children and grandchildren years after she passed.
The fragment of the poem that appears in the artwork reads as follows: And do you know that glitter and gold have gone out of fashion, and that your parrot no longer remembers himself? - the poem was also titled To Misericordia, and it was written by Molina in 2018.
