Considering time and memory, this series investigates nature as transformation. Images get transferred using hand sanitizer; the slipper solution causes a loss in resolution when the transfer occurs further blurring the imagery as memories often do.
I see nature as a metaphor for time. I manipulate fragments from the natural environment such as flowers, weeds, and everyday objects that I collect from places like my backyard or from loved ones; to cast or transfer onto a surface in order to attempt to preserve the memories connected to these beings, specimens, objects, and plants. In the effort to preserve beauty, I invariably confront a loss of image and the grotesque may appear. I am in constant awe of nature and obsessed with documenting it. Knowing the beauty will fade, decay, rot, and discolor, I want to savor the moment.
