Xaivery Bonnett’s pieces are inspired by 1960’s film history and 19th century dress. Taking visual cues from films where female protagonists rule in a male dominated world, juxtaposed with research of the Victorian bustle (designed by a man), Xaivery creates a landscape of strength masked in glamour— where bodies choose their own armor. Queering garments originally designed by or for men, and often using deadstock vintage menswear fabrics, his pieces are both strong & structured, yet are delicately rendered with French finishing and often appliquéd with hand embellishments. An XB garment allows the wearer to become their own knight in shining armor.
