Made of 100% artisanal wool, naturally dyed with annatto seeds, pine cones and turmeric
The main source of inspiration for this design were the great Mexican Escaramuzas – women of strong and independent character often featured in 1940's Mexican films.
The Malena sweater is hand made from start to finish. Between knitting and dying, approximately 40 hours are invested in its completion. The wool was dyed with natural pigments. The sleeves and the sides are dyed with pine cones where different mordants give them a variety of tones. For the center, the yarn was dyed with turmeric, and the shoulders with annatto seeds. Each sweater will feature a slight variation of tones.
This sweater combines plain stitches, texture stitches and cables.
