THE TALE Leonard Baby’s paintings are inspired primarily by European cinema. Baby is influenced by Robert Bresson, Michelangelo Antonioni, Maurice Pialat, and François Truffaut. Oftentimes Baby’s paintings have a cinemascope framing alluding to the fact that they are just a moment of an entire story happening outside the frame. Similarly, Baby wishes to replicate the sublimely lonely feeling one is reminded of when looking at the paintings of Edward Hopper and Edvard Munch. |
