Tanner Bowman lives and works out of his home studio in Chicago, IL. Interested in the connections between art and design, Bowman makes functional art objects that utilize techniques and materials common to the American household. Bowman starts with his own home as an inspiration, making objects that he would personally like to live with first and foremost. Tanner’s work is often a tedious process that takes many hours to complete, pushing meditative craftsmanship. Considered an anti-industrial designer, he believes that the most valuable object is one which a person can witness the emotional labor the maker put into it.
