The work I create uses the formal qualities of domestic interiors to build a structure that contains the narratives of human relationships and the spirit of ordinary life through quiet gestures. Celebrating the extraordinary in the everyday. I draw directly on to the lithographic stone with crayon and wash. Each colour layer is printed by hand and I make small limited editions at my studio in Bristol, UK.
I record memories, rituals and moments that play a vital role in our lives and ultimately reflect who we are. Guided by these fragments I create new narratives that move between reality and fiction. The seen and the unseen; those fleeting moments which are charged with intensity. In the words of symbolist poet Stephane Mallerme “To depict not the thing, but the effect it produces”.
