This image emerged from the exercise of looking at the quotidian and the ordinary through the lenses of memory and nostalgia. Molina remembers, for instance, sitting on the countertop of a laundry room, or a kitchen table watching her mother and grandmothers cook, do the dishes, fold the clothes, sweep, and mop. She remembers watching them do these things meticulously, and there was an amount of care that today her memory translates into tenderness.
The ideas of home, family, memory, and love present in Molina’s artwork are drawn loosely from the places she has lived, both in Venezuela and the United States.
