Alyssa Rogers is an artist born and raised in Southern California. Alyssa’s work in ceramics explores contemporary subjects, including witches on TikTok and climate anxiety, by returning to the ancient wisdom of hand coiling, painting and scratching on pots. These vessels are experiments in anachronism, rooted in warmth, humor and curiosity. She draws inspiration from Fritz Lang films, Hausa architecture, tarot cards, 90's television, the poetry of Mary Oliver, and more. These disparate sources speak to her interest in juxtapositions: highbrow and lowbrow, ancient and contemporary, magical and intellectual, masculine and feminine. By addressing themes like gender, mental health, and the politics of pleasure, she aims to create art that is universally human.
